Birmingham On-Demand will continue service until Oct. 31 unless the service’s contract is renewed in the 2021 city budget, officials say.

The on-demand ride sharing service, powered by Via, began in December. So far, more than 18,000 rides have been taken. Both riders and city councilors have publicly spoken positively about the service, which provides rides for $1.50.
